The Procrastinators – Prompt

Hi, thanks to Britta, I came across The Procrastinators blog (see link below) and decided to try one of their prompts – The five word challenge. To write a poem or story including all of the five words:

  • Chain
  • Painting
  • Danger
  • Curtain
  • Ridicule

Here is a bit of Flash Fiction in response although I have used painted instead of ‘painting’ hope that’s allowed!:

Held back by his chain, in danger of ridicule by his peers, Joss painted the picture of a subdued prisoner eating his last meal. Pulling back the curtain, Amy looked out onto the garden, Joss’s head lifted and the gnarled bone dropped from his mouth. Yes, it would be ‘walkies’ time soon.

I was born and live in rural North Wales (UK) and found poetry again after a lifetime, so grateful I did :)

  1. Loved this piece of flash fiction. Well done you! The Procrastinators struggled a little with these words during our meeting on Sunday. I’ll read out your reply next week, just to prove it can be done. We’ll played!!!

      1. This is simply not working for me, I am typing on my mobile and seem to make it worse with each comment. Should read ‘wanted to say’. I’ll stop now before this gets out of hand.
