Chamber Prompt

Ragtag’s prompt for today is ‘Chamber‘, so I went for the first thing that sprang to my mind! Chamber pots have been used by humankind for thousands of years, one of the earliest known examples of a chamber pot was discovered by archaeologists in Egypt dating from the 1300s B.C.

The chamber pot, basically a portable toilet, is not used that much these days. They came in a variety of different styles, some like a stool with a hinged lid, others like a pot or dish. Although styles varied, the function was always the same.

I was born and live in rural North Wales (UK) and found poetry again after a lifetime, so grateful I did :)

  1. You reminded me that when a friend and I used to hunt for saleable old bottles in dumps in Maine we’d sometimes find old chamber pots. We sold a lot to antique stores. The stores sold them to people who had no clue about what the pot was used for. I’ve always wondered what they did with them?
