Creative Poetry Practice

Poetry is music in words

One of the great things about writing poetry is that we are never ‘incorrect‘, what constitutes a good or bad poem is merely in the eye of the reader. Creative poetry however, requires regular practice, the more time we give to our craft the more creative we become. I make time to write each day, it is now my practice and what an enjoyable habit to have!

So a tip – explore what moves you, be inspired by music, art or nature and pour it out onto the page, try not to restrain yourself either by subject or that inner voice saying ‘it wont be good enough’ – it will, so let go, writing poetry provides a creative and healthy form of self-expression. So pick up that pen or get tapping on those keys.

My haiku below was inspired by nature – the oak.

I was born and live in rural North Wales (UK) and found poetry again after a lifetime, so grateful I did :)
