Hi, the first Friday of the new year, and time for Friday Fictioneers hosted by Rochelle https://rochellewisoff.com/2023/01/04/6-january-2023/, this weeks prompt image above is provided by Roger Bultot, I found it most intriguing, here is my piece of flash entitled ‘Urban Decay’, thanks for reading 🙂

I really like this story. Oddly, I’m fascinated by how quickly the earth takes back from abandoned humanity. I’ve been watching an old abandoned house for a few years now (about 15) and watching how slowly it is decaying and the plant/animal life is taking over. It’s also a testament to the skill of the original builders that it is even still standing.

Beauty can be found anywhere. Of course, we could make it easier on ourselves by keeping things naturally beautiful.

Dear Angela,
The artist can see beauty in the midst of rubbish, whether with pencil, brush or lens. April’s obviously an artist. Nicely done.

Oof! Kind of feel like April is ignoring the suffering of others to find her beauty.

or maybe she is trying to demonstrate to the rich the state of their city and the plight of those who have to live there?

April’s photographic eye was just what was needed to bring attention to the urban decay. Great story, Angela.

Beauty amidst the ugliness. Nicely put. She at least saw the truth in her art. Well

Thanks Poetisanta. Litter can be beautiful indeed, maybe in a sculpture but definitely off the streets…it might blow into the gutter…the river…the ocean, ending on an unknown shore or continent… All the best for the coming year.
