Hi, Mark this week informs us have entered the micro-season of “The Mountain Stream Freezes Over”, which is the second micro-season of the mini-season Major Cold. https://naturalistweekly.com/2023/01/27/micro-season-the-mountain-stream-freezes-over-2/ I really enjoyed the read about how flowing water freezes and the accompanying haikus. Our challenge is to write a haiku or senryu that references frozen water in any form.
Thanks for stopping by 🙂

Lovely.

You captured it perfectly! We are in Major Cold here for sure. It won’t get above freezing all week!

Thankfully we are ok at the moment 8 degrees balmy in comparison 🥶

What a wonderful addition to the season! And, a wonderful photo to go along with your haiku. Great job!

Beautifully done, Angela! You can ‘see’ the frozen beauty and feel the current hiding under the still surface 💞💞💞

I’ve not been on too many (or any) frozen beaches. though one time while visiting in Mass. I walked about 3/4’s around a small pond in winter. It only had a very small ‘beach’ area. A very crunchy walk in the woods around that pond 🙂

I bet it was a lovely if not cold sight 🙂

Nice to be alone in the wooded area. Sad though that someone might have been living there – I saw traces of an ‘encampment’ which made me wonder if I was safe enough… and the litter – that was sad to see too.
Nature in winter can be very lovely. 🙂
