It’s Prosery time at the dVerse Poets Pub, https://dversepoets.com/2024/01/15/dverse-prosery-january-15/ with our host Lisa, she invites us to use the line “But that smile was the last smile/To come upon her face.” in a prose piece of 144 words. It’s from the ‘Ballad of Birmingham’ by Dudley Randall, we are not allowed to add or take away any words in between, but punctuation may be altered.
Thanks for reading 😊
So very moving, AJ ❤️

Ange, you do a great job of manifesting the anguish and showing the grandmother finding a way to go on. Wiping tears from my eyes ❤

This is the ages-old story of the woman left behind at home, carrying on when the menfolk are gone, lost, dead, wandered. It’s such a tragedy.

I like that you ended with the word sun, in connection with her grandson being lost at sea. And the warmth. We can always hold onto remembrance of our loved ones.❤️🙏🏻
